No recall! Dan Barlaser is staying with Rotherham United

IN-FORM midfielder Dan Barlaser will remain with Rotherham United for the rest of the season, manager Paul Warne has confirmed.

The 22-year-old has been a key man in the Millers' rise to the top of League One during his loan spell from Newcastle United, sparking fears a Championship club could try to lure him away from AESSEAL New York Stadium during the transfer window.

But Warne, whose side travel to Peterborough United on Saturday, has revealed that the deadline for the Magpies to take back the former England youth international and send him somewhere else has been and gone.

"Dan Barlaser is past his date when he can be recalled," the boss said.

Warne is confident goalkeeper Dan Iversen, on loan from Leicester City, will also stay with Rotherham for the promotion run-in.

"Dan Iversen's date is, I think, in the next couple of days," he said.

"We've had good relationships with the clubs of all our loan players. We do a lot of work with their clubs before we get them and we do a lot of work with their clubs once they come here.

"We send them information all the time and speak to them all the time. We have open lines of communication. To all intents and purposes, neither of the Dans are going anywhere."

Warne remains in the market for creative attacker and possibly a defender before the window closes at the end of the month and is hoping to keep hold of the players who have taken the Millers to the summit of the third tier.

"If I can't get who I want I won't bring in anyone just for the sake of it," he said. "If we can strengthen the team we will, but the team is pretty strong as it is.

"We've got two or three names we want. We're not sitting here on our laptops looking at hours and hours of footage.

"All the hard work has been done by Rob (head of recruitment Scott) and his team. Hopefully something will happen. If it doesn't, I won't lose any sleep.

"I haven't had any phone call about any of my players, which is amazing. I'm pleased about that.

"None of my players have been rocked. They haven't had their eye pulled somewhere else towards a golden money tree.

"If I can keep them together and keep them fit, hopefully we can finish the season well."

Rotherham have had unspecified injury issues this week, which led to the loan recall of striker Jerry Yates on Wednesday, but left-back Joe Mattock has recovered from his back problem and is available for the Peterborough clash.

Reserve goalkeeper Lewis Price is still troubled by his ankle and is a doubt for the squad.
