"No link" between two rapes, detectives say

DETECTIVES investigating two rapes in two days say they are not treating the incidents as connected.

A woman in her 30s reported being attacked on Market Street, in the town centre, at 2pm last Thursday.

A 16-year-old girl reported a similar attack on Badsley Moor Lane, Herringthorpe between 9.30pm and 10.30pm the following day.

But a police spokeswoman confirmed that "there is not believed to be a link" between the two crimes.

Officers arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the town centre attack and have since released him from custody.

They are seeking another man - described as slim, around 6ft tall and wearing a dark Nike hoodie - in relation to the latter incident.
