'No link' between two rapes, detectives say
The Lanes, near Herringthorpe, where one of the reported rapes was carried out

DETECTIVES investigating two rapes in two days say they are not treating the incidents as connected.

A woman in her 30s reported being attacked on Market Street, in the town centre, at 2pm last Thursday.

A 16-year-old girl reported a similar attack on Badsley Moor Lane, Herringthorpe between 9.30pm and 10.30pm the following day.

But a police spokeswoman confirmed that "there is not believed to be a link" between the two crimes.

Officers arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the town centre attack and have since released him from custody.

They are seeking another man - described as slim, around 6ft tall and wearing a dark Nike hoodie - in relation to the latter incident.

Anyone with information on either incident should call police on 101.
