Nine-year-old lurcher cross finally rehomed

ANIMAL sanctuary manager Hannah Briggs has described the rehoming of the charitys longest-standing four-legged resident as a sad story with a really happy ending.

Nine-year-old lurcher cross Flynn had been at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in North Anston for three years before Louise Tuner and her dad Alan Oxley saw a Facebook campaign set up by Hannah to find him a new home.

Hannah said: “I returned to Thornberry two years ago after working at another kennels and was really sad to see that Flynn was still here.

“I decided to set up the Facebook page and update it with videos and pictures so the public could see the side of Flynn that we saw every day.

“But there was no need for any of that because within 24 hours of the Facebook page being set up, Louise got in touch and gave him a new home.

“It is a sad story with a really happy ending and we are all extremely happy for him.”

Louise, from Basegreen in Sheffield, saw the Facebook page while in bed one evening and made the decision to go to visit him the following day.

She said: “I looked again in the morning and just had the urge to go and see him.

“I showed the picture to my dad and he was taken aback by how gorgeous he was.

“When I told him Fynn was at Thornberry he wanted to come with me to meet him.

“So that day we went and took Flynn for an hour-and-a-half walk through the woods and he was so placid and tame, we both just fell in love with him.”

Flynn is now living with Alan but Louise has regular contact with him and is overjoyed at how quickly he has become a part of the family.

She added: “We had the home check and we had to make sure my dad’s garden was secure and safe for him.

“He now lives at my dad’s but I live around the corner so play a big role in Flynn’s life.

“He’s settled in ever so well. He gets on well with my children and he hogs the sofa with my dad.

“He’s such a loveable dog, we feel really lucky to have found him.”
