The youngsters had been forced to stay inside during rain or very sunny weather as their outdoor play area had no shelter from the elements.

But after hearing an appeal from one of the school's nursery nurses on the radio, staff from Bramall Construction stepped in and provided shelter from the storm.

Dawn Bramall, who launched the appeal, said: "We are extremely grateful for the help they have given us.

"The new sheltered area means that the children can now play games and take part in group activities outdoors.

"The canopy has also proved popular with parents as they no longer have to stand in the rain when picking up from school."
