New Rotherham United deal for Josh Kayode

HOT prospect Josh Kayode has signed a new contract that keeps him at Rotherham United until 2024.

The 20-year-old striker, yet to be make his league debut for the Championship Millers. has spent this season on loan at League Two Carlisle United where he earned his first Republic of Ireland under=21 call-up.

The Dublin-born youngster, who has come through Rotherham's youth system, is highly regarded at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Manager Paul Warne allowed him to leave to build up his senior experience and the plan has always been for Kayode to return in the summer and fight for a Millers place next year.

The centre-forward has been a big hit in Cumbria playing mainly as a winger and scored six goals in 29 appearances before being sidelined by an ankle injury early last month.

He made his return in yesterday's 0-0 draw at Newport County.

He told the Advertiser earlier this season: "I want to become a regular in the first team at Rotherham. That’s the ultimate goal right now. That’s where I did my two years as a scholar.

"Moving to England, Rotherham were the team I came to. They’re ‘my’ club. I want to score goals for Rotherham."
