New recruits in battle to help Rotherham businesses beat crime

FOUR officers have been given extra training as police try to help defend firms from commercial crime.

Police Community Support Officers Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Brookes, Richard Marshall and Tony Brown have taken part in the crime reduction scheme.

Businesses classed as small or medium-sized can tap into 12 hours of prevention advice — worth £2,500 — covering areas like CCTV.

PCSO Taylor said: “It is a fantastic initiative that makes businesses feel part of their communities

“They are all getting value for money from the service and we have had some superb feedback from businesses we have given advice to so far. The benefits are huge.”

The initiative is funded by European cash and delivered in partnership with People United Against Crime.

If anyone is interested in receiving crime reduction advice for themselves or their businesses, they should contact their local Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.
