The Millers boss had worked previously with the 37-year-old at his old team, Exeter City.

Brown, who was a player as well as a coach at St James Park, will start work with his new club when they head to Cyprus next week for a week of warm-weather training during the international break.

Taylor's staff - assistant manager Wayne Carlisle, coach Jonathan Hill and now Brown - have all come north with him from Exeter.

Brown's move was agreed in principle with the Grecians several weeks ago, soon after the new manager's arrival at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Rotherham's interim keeper coach, Billy Mercer, will also travel to Cyprus.
