New factory planned by Dinnington firm Hodge Clemco

SANDBLASTING firm Hodge Clemco has proposed this new factory to replace one devastated by fire a year ago.

The new industrial storage facility would be of a similar size and include admin offices at the Dinnington site, which employs 20.

The previous building was wrecked in an accidental blaze which took 40 firefighters more than nine hours to deal with in May 2018.

Architect Tim Justice said: “Originally, there were two industrial units that populated the site.

“With matching facades of green corrugated steel cladding and a masonry brick plinth, these gave Hodge Clemco its distinctive identity on site.

“In mid-2018, an accidental fire broke out in the industrial unit adjacent to Todwick Road.

“The unit was devastated and ultimately had to be demolished to slab level on health and safety grounds in January 2019.

“The new unit will be one of two and used predominantly as a storage facility.”

Plans say the development would have a 1,699 sq m footprint — about 320 sq m more than the old building.
