New energy pipeline planned for Templeborough biomass power plant

PLANS have been submitted for a new pipeline to take advantage of energy from the Templeborough Biomass Power Plant.

The addition to the Rotherham district heating network will use heat from the £150 million centre on Sheffield Road.

The energy will be used for various purposes — supplying both residential and commercial premises — and the pipes will include copper wires to detect leaks.

The route of the pipes — shown on plans filed by the plant with Rotherham Borough Council — passes New York Stadium, the council’s Riverside House and Main Street police station, as far as the leisure centre at St Ann’s.
