New Eastwood school £500,000 budget blowout

A SCHOOL being built to ease the enormous pressure on primary places is almost £500,000 over budget.

The £6.4 million academy - being constructed on stilts because of flood risk - is expected to open this September.

More than half of the overspend is to provide new allotments to ones on which the school is being built in Eastwood.

The rest of the £498,127 being taken from a contingency chest is for an alternative entrance, furniture and IT equipment.
