The project is the result of a partnership between Marks and Spencer and environmental charity Groundwork who will create the Rotherham Adventure Playground as one of 15 new Greener Living Space projects across the country.

It will be funded through the profits from the five pence Marks and Spencer charges for its carrier bags.

Jenny Yates of Groundwork Dearne Valley said: "This funding is a welcome addition to the funds we have already secured from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) through the Play Pathfinder Programme and the Big Lottery.

"It will ensure an exciting new and different play facility, helping to bring together the wide diversity of children and young people from the Eastwood area in Rotherham."
