NCA trial: Takeaway driver accused of rape and sexual assault

A WOMAN has told a court she was sexually assaulted by a takeaway driver in an alleyway as a teenager.

Khurram Javed (35), of Clifton Crescent, Rotherham, went on trial at Sheffield Crown Court today accused of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault alleged to have taken place between 2008 and 2014 against two girls who were aged 13 and 16 at the time.

The trial is part of the National Crime Agency’s Operation Stovewood which is investigating non-familial child sexual exploitation and abuse in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

A police interview with one of the complainants, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was played to the jury today as part of the prosecution’s evidence.

The complainant said she had known Javed by the name of “Sam” and he had sexually assaulted her in an alleyway near the takeaway where he worked.

“He knew I was 13 – I told him I was,” she said.

“He pinned me up against the wall, grabbed my arms and pushed me.

“He forced me to kiss him and shoved his tongue down my throat.”

She claims Javed then put his hand down her trousers and touched her inappropriately.

The woman said her legs were “like jelly” and she was “shocked”.

The trial continues.
