Tony Chapman, of Lindley Street, Eastwood, has been on trial at Sheffield Crown Court for a week and denies one count of actual bodily harm, one of making a threat to kill and three of rape, against two female complainants between 2013 and 2015.

Both women were teenagers at the time of the alleged offences — Chapman was around 20 years older.

One of the women, neither of whom can be named for legal reasons, said she was twice raped by him.

Judge David Dixon told the jury today (Monday): "Tony Chapman reports that he never had sex with (the teenager) and it's all made up.

"You have got to look at these counts separately - they all require separate decisions."

Judge Dixon told the jury that the alleged incidents happened some years ago and that memories could fade.

"That's something you will have to bear in mind when you look at the evidence," he said.

The trial continues.
