Four men go on trial for sexually abusing girls in "seedy" Meadowhall scene after NCA investigation

FOUR men have gone on trial accused of sexually abusing two teenage girls in the early 2000s after allegedly meeting them at Meadowhall.

Amin Aslam (37), of Leatham Avenue, Masbrough, Yasser Iqbal Hussain (36), of Norborough Road, Tinsley, Azad Akram Raja (36), of Adney Street, Sheffield, and Faisal Hussain (32), of Lovetot Road, Kimberworth, are on trial at Sheffield Crown Court accused of 12 child sex offences.

The girls hung around the “Meadhowhall scene” – a reference to the shopping centre – where they met older males.

"The Crown say the whole Meadowhall scene was very seedy," said Ms Beckett.

  • Aslam is accused of one count of rape and one count of indecent assault against a girl aged under 16 (referred to as Girl A) between April 2001 and April 2004,

  • Raja is accused of three counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault against the same girl, during the same timeframe.

  • Yasser Hussain is accused of one count of rape and two counts of indecent assault against the same girl, during the same period.

  • Faisal Hussain faces two counts of indecent assault against a second girl (Girl B) between January 2003 and June 2003.

The defendants, who have been charged as part of the National Crime Agency's investigation into abuse in Rotherham, deny all of the charges.

The trial continues.
