Murder suspect 'feared sex attack'

A MURDER suspect has claimed that he battered his alcoholic next door neighbour to death with a bottle in a “ferocious” attack after fearing that the 39-year-old man was going to sexually assault him.

Killer Justin Fishlock (21), also an alcoholic, was found the next morning bare-chested and covered in blood asleep on a settee in the flat of his victim David Wilkes—whose shattered body lay just yards away.

A trail of bloody footprints led to a landing in the block of flats where a 73-year-old woman from the flat above made the grim discovery, Sheffield Crown Court heard.

Fishlock has confessed to manslaughter but denies murder and claims “loss of control” after Mr Wilkes tried to kiss him at the first floor flat in Fortway Road, Brinsworth, in March.

The trial continues.
