Murder probe after Thurnscoe assault victim dies

TWO men and two teenage boys were arrested after an assault which led to a man dying in hospital.

DETECTIVES have are treating the death of a man who was fatally attacked in Thurnscoe as murder.

A 32-year-old man found with serious head injuries outside a property on Houghton Road on Friday night died in hospital yesterday (Sunday).

Police were alerted by ambulance staff who attended the incident.

Four people — men aged 36 and 34 and two 15-year-old boys — were arrested on suspicion of assault. They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A fifth person, a 35-year-old man, was arrested by officers on suspicion of assault and was still in custody yesterday.

Formal identification and a postmortem are yet to take place, South Yorkshire Police said.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone with information about what happened.
