Brittle appeared at Barnsley Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was remanded in custody.

The alleged victim was shot in an alleyway running from Marsh Street to nearby Smith Street, in Wombwell, at 7.30pm on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital, where his condition is stable.
