Murder arrest after death of 45-year-old man in Parkgate

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man in Parkgate.

Emergency services were called to William Street at 1.10pm yesterday following reports that a  45-year-old man had been assaulted, a police spokesperson said.

The man, who was found with serious injuries, was taken to hospital but died about three hours later.

A post-mortem is expected to take place later today, the spokesperson added.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of murder yesterday evening and he remains in police custody.

The spokesperson said there would be a police presence on Williams Street and the surrounding area today while officers carried out their enquiries.
