Murder accused expected to stand trial next year

A MAN is expected to stand trial next year over the murder of mum-of-four Alena Grlakova.

Gary Arthur Allen (46), of HMP Doncaster, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday (11) charged with the murder of the 38-year-old Swinton woman.

Allen did not enter a plea but a provisional trial date was set for April 22.

He was remanded into custody and will next appear at the same court on February 7.

Mrs Grlakova was last seen on Boxing Day and was reported missing by her family in January.

Her body was found on land just off Taylor’s Lane, Parkgate, on April 8.

A post-mortem concluded she died as a result of neck injuries.

Det Chief Insp Mark Oughton said he was still appealing for information.

He said: “We remain keen to hear from anyone with information, who saw Alena on Boxing Day 2018, and who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Taylor’s Lane area.”
