Mums gather to back breast feeding

MUMS from across Rotherham were out to declare that breast is best with a mass baby-feeding session.

Almost 70 were at Clifton Park’s bandstand for the Big Latch-On on Friday, which saw 27 babies “latching on” and aimed to raising awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding and highlight the support and the knowledge available in local communities.

The campaign, backed by local support team Rotherham Breast Buddies, aims to make breastfeeding a normal part of day-to-day life and encourage support for breastfeeding in public places.

Karen Taylor, breastfeeding peer support officer for Rotherham Borough Council, said: “This is a very public show of support for breastfeeding, which is hugely beneficial to both babies and their mothers.

“Many of the mums attend Breast Buddies sessions and are able to get the support and information they need.”
