POLICE are hunting a gang who attacked a 13-year-old cyclist and stole his bike.

The teenager was riding his bike to meet friends just before 8am last Wednesday when he was stopped by a group of four youths on Estone Drive, Swallownest.

The youths lifted the victim from his bike before two members of the group rode away with it. All four youths were then seen heading towards Rosegarth shops.

The four suspects were all described as male, aged between 16 and 17.

One of the youths was described as possibly mixed race, wearing a distinctive camouflage 'Location' jacket in grey and black, which had a goggle mask attached.

The other youths were wearing black, while one wore red socks.

A police spokeswoman said: "The victim was not assaulted and did not suffer any physical injuries but was left understandably shaken and distressed from the incident.

"The victim's bike is a silver MAGNA BMX with HYPER black plastic wheels."

The attack happened just days after a 12-year-old from Wath was mugged for his treasured bike in an underpass at Rotherham's B&Q roundabout.
