MP goes back to school

MP JOHN Healey went back to school to fill pupils in on politics.

Heather Garth Primary Academy in Bolton-on-Dearne invited Mr Healey to speak to them during Parliament Week, an annual festival to encourage people to learn about and engage with the work of Parliament.

Year 6 teacher Marie Bower welcomed the Wentworth and Dearne MP, saying: “At Heather Garth, we take British values and citizenship very seriously.

“We believe that teaching the children and letting them experience each other’s opinions in a tolerant and respectful way is key to shaping their futures.

“Parliament Week is a great way of getting the children involved in how their country does things.

“Who knows, one day one of them could be visiting a school like John or even running the country!”
