Moving 100-mile challenge for military man Louis Blackwell

A MILITARY man from Rotherham completed a 100-mile walk in just four days to commemorate fallen soldiers.

Louis Blackwell (pictured), of South Anston, was among 100 current and ex-military personnel who took on The Long Walk Home from the Menin Gate in Ypres to the Cenotaph in London in November.

They raised funds for the Haig Housing Trust, which provides homes at affordable rents to the ex-service community and specially-designed housing for wounded and disabled veterans.

Louis, who serves in the Royal Navy as a meteorologist and raised £1,386.67 himself, said: “I am proud to have been selected to be one of the walkers for the Long Walk Home.

“The was recognises the great sacrifice given by so many.”

The walk involved completing 25 miles on four consecutive days.
