Kyle Coucom, of Victoria Street, Maltby, was found not guilty of three counts of causing death by dangerous driving in relation to the accident outside the town’s former pit site in November 2015.

Friends Diana Hunt and Barbara Twigg died at the scene and Wendy Park died later. All three were from Doncaster.

The defendant was accused of failing to slow down in time to avoid hitting a van which had pulled out in front of him, before his Ford Focus was involved in a collision with Mrs Hunt’s Toyota Aygo.

But a jury found him not guilty at Sheffield Crown Court this afternoon.
