Motorcyclist seriously injured after collision with car

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a collision between a car and a motorcycle left a man with serious injuries.

The incident happened at around 1.15pm on Tuesday, June 5, at the junction with High Street and Church Street in Bolton-on-Dearne.

It is believed that a blue Honda motorcycle, driven by a 60-year-old man from Barnsley, was travelling along High Street towards Church Street.

Officers understand that a black BMW, driven by a 44-year-old woman from Doncaster, approached the junction from Church Street and started turning right onto High Street and collided with the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries, with a fracture to his right arm and leg. He was detained for treatment at the Rotherham Hospital.

The BMW driver was not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 506 of Tuesday June 5.
