Motorcyclist 'serious' after crash

A MOTOR-cyclist sustained serious injuries in a collision with a car in Bolton-upon-Dearne yesterday.

A grey Vauxhall Zafira was following a bus on Furlong Road at 6.30am travelling towards Manvers.

The Zafira has then turned right into Prospect Road across the path of a black C125 TMEC motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction towards Goldthorpe.

The motorbike and the Zafira collided, throwing the motorcyclist from his vehicle.

The rider was found without his helmet but police believe this was fastened at the time of the collision.

The motorcyclist, a Goldthorpe man in his early 40s, sustained a broken femur, fractured pelvis, fractured wrist and internal injuries. He is detained at Rotherham General Hospital where his condition is described as “serious.”

The Zafira driver, a 43-year-old local man, sustained minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
