Motorcyclist killed in crash was due to welcome first grandchild

A MOTORCYCLIST killed in a crash last month was due to become a grandfather, his grieving family has revealed.

Peter Heard (65) collided with a silver Vauxhall Zafira on Worrygoose Lane in Whiston on Saturday, February 18, at 12.50pm.

He was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital, where he died a short time later.

His family has released a statement which described him as “a loving family man, with two sons and a daughter”.

The statement added: “He was also expecting his first grandchild in May this year.

“He lived in Rotherham all his life, working locally and he recently retired from his job as a HGV driver.

“He loved his motorcycle and enjoyed working on it and riding it in his spare time, as well as enjoying quiet evenings out with his loved ones.

“He will be greatly missed by us all and we ask that our privacy is respected while we continue to grieve our loss.”

Police asked anyone with any information to call them on 101 or email [email protected], quoting incident number 553 of February 18.
