Motorbike rider killed in crash

A MOTORCYCLIST involved in a traffic collision at Swinton this morning has died of his injuries.

The 43-year-old man was riding along Lime Grove on a blue Honda bike when he collided with a silver Vauxhall Vectra which pulled out of Gleneagles Rise.

The rider, from Chesterfield, came off the motorbike and was trapped under the car.

A police spokeswoman said that he sustained “multiple traumatic injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 54-year-old man driving the Vectra, who is from Swinton, was not reported to have been hurt.

Police would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision or the manner of driving prior to it.

Witnesses are urged to call South Yorkshire Police on non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number 114 of Tuesday, October 30.
