Moorgate man to stand trial next year for sexual assaults

A MAN will stand trial next year accused of sexually assaulting and harrassing a woman.

Asaf Ali (33), of Moorgate Road, Rotherham, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday.

He denied two counts of sexual assault alleged committed on August 4 and one of putting a person in fear of violence by harrassment between April 1 and August 5.

Ali is accused of harrassing the woman by going to her house, going to her workplace, repeatedly calling her and verbally and sexually abusing her.

His trial is scheduled to begin on February 24 next year at the Crown Court and will take an estimated three days.

Ali was released on bail until that date.
