Minster takes part in festival of faith

Rotherham Minister is playing its part in a festival called Ten Days of Prayer between Ascension Day and Pentecost.

ROTHERHAM Minster is responding to the Bishop of Sheffield’s call for Ten Days of Prayer between Ascension Day and Pentecost with an extensive programme of services and events.

Ascension Day was yesterday (MAY 13) and Pentecost or Whitsunday falls on May 23.

Throughout the ten days, a children’s prayer activity table, a Journey of Prayer through art and prayer stations can be found in the Minster.

And every day, people are invited to pause—wherever they are—for prayer at 8am, noon, 6pm and 9pm.

Events taking place include Half Hour of Prayer at the vicarage at 7pm on Monday (MAY 17) and Prayer in the Square—or in the Minster, if the weather is bad—when people are invited to spend time on market day on Tuesday (18), praying for all who work in the town.

The Mayor’s Service takes place at 11am on Saturday, May 22, and the following day there will be Communion with Baptism and Confirmation at the Minster at 10.30am.
