Millers line up loan duo

ROTHERHAM United expect to reinforce their squad with two new signings this weekend.

Manager Steve Evans has reached agreement with a Championship club to take a striker and a left-sided midfield player on loan until the end of the season providing both come through the weekend injury-free.

If they do, both will be available for Tuesday's trip to Wycombe Wanderers, restoring numbers after loan duo Jordan Slew and Courtney Cameron returned to their parent clubs this week.

Evans said: "Our targets are both young but experienced and one of them once went for £2 million and is a name people will recognise."

The Millers approach tomorrow's home game against Dagenham and Redbridge in their best run of form this season, unbeaten in six in League Two.

Tuesdays' 4-0 romp at Oxford lifted them to within a point of third-placed Cheltenham with two games in hand and just four behind faltering Port Vale.

Evans added: "No-one is going to hand us promotion, we are going to have to earn it and the same goes for these next two games."

Long-term injury absentee, goalkeeper Scott Shearer, could make a return on the substitutes' bench tomorrow.
