Some fans who had gathered outside the New York Stadium posed for photographs with the famous names.

Rotherham United players, including captain Richard Wood and midfielder Will Vaulks, attended along with manager Paul Warne.

And club legend Ronnie Moore, a former player and two-time manager, was also among the invited guests.

He said: “Barry meant a lot to me, they were a great pair and Barry was great with my kids.”

Ronnie said he had fond memories of taking his children to watch the Chuckle Brothers at shows in Scarborough and Bridlington.

“It’s sad because he was a genuinely funny guy,” he said.

“My family were all brought up with ChuckleVision.

“We all had photos taken with them when we (Rotherham) got promoted.

“Barry was so good for the football club and the whole family of Rotherham United.”

Ronnie said Barry’s service was “quite humurous” and included a moving tribute from his brother Paul.

“One or two things went wrong - we were waiting for the music to come on and Paul blamed Barry for it because it would always be his fault if things didn’t work.

“It was quite humorous at times.”
