Mexborough shop blaze among five deliberate fires overnight

A FIRE at the rear of a Mexborough shop last night was started deliberately, the fire service says.

Three crews, from Dearne and Edlington stations, attended a retail premises on Doncaster Road at 11.10pm.

A VW Passat was deliberately set on fire an hour earlier at Barnsley Road, Wombwell, and there was a deliberate bin fire at King Street, Goldthorpe, at 9.20pm.

A rubbish fire which had spread to an outbuilding at Burcroft Hill in Conisbrough at 11.45pm was accidental.

But rubbish was deliberately set alight at Scholes Lane, Scholes at about 8pm, while a bin was torched at Rother View Road in Canklow at 3.35am today.
