Men wielding knife and hammer take cigs and cash from Brinsworth supermarket

TWO MEN threatened staff at a shop in Brinsworth with a knife and hammer and stole cash and cigarettes.

Detectives are investigating the armed robbery at the Tesco Express store on Brinsworth Lane just before 10pm last night (Thursday), a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said.

Two men entered the store carrying a knife and hammer, she added.

"The men are said to have threated staff before taking cash from the tills and a quantity of cigarettes before leaving on foot.

"No-one was injured during the incident."

Detectives do not believe the incident to be linked to the burglary at Sainsbury's in Sunnyside yesterday.
