Men sought after armed raid on Thurnscoe shop

A MAN and woman have been arrested after an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store — but two men remain at large.

Police received a report that a masked man had entered A and H Convenience on Lorne Road, Thurnscoe, at 7.10am yesterday (Tuesday) and threatened staff with a knife.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The shopkeeper confronted the offender who is reported to have run from the store and got into a silver Vauxhall Astra waiting outside."

The vehicle was driven onto Canberra Rise in Bolton-upon-Dearne, where it crashed into a fence. Two men were seen running from the scene, she added.

Officers arrested a 25-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, both from Worsborough, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Two men, believed to be involved in the robbery, remain at large — police urge anyone with information to contact 101 quoting incident 142 of July 31.
