Men arrested over abuse of Millers boss Evans

THREE men were arrested for alleged racist chanting at Millers manager Steve Evans during Saturday’s (5) win over Gillingham.

The trio — aged 24, 27 and 57 — were held by Kent Police on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences.

Scot Evans spoke to officers after the dramatic 4-3 League One victory at Priestfield Stadium.

A police spokesman said: “We are investigating an allegation that some Gillingham fans were chanting racist abuse at Rotherham manager Steve Evans during the match.

“Three men aged were arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and have been released on bail until May 7 while officers make further inquiries.”
