Wrag — Whiston Residents Action Group — wants to protect land being eyed by JVH Town Planning Consultants.

Already unveiled are designs for 450 properties behind Lathe Road, and the same developer is hoping to add 250 on the other side of Shrogswood Road.

A group spokesman said: “The impact of such a development would affect not only those residents whose properties are on the boundary of the land, but a much wider area.

“Anyone who travels to work by car or bus along Worrygoose Lane knows already the problem of traffic congestion at Worrygoose island, particularly at peak times, the amount of time it can add to your journey, and the air pollution from vehicle exhausts.”

The meeting takes place at Broom Lane Methodist Church, at 7pm.
