The farmland site south of Wood Lane had its protected status removed earlier this year by Rotherham Borough Council.

But residents are organising their objections to the Jones Homes plan and have been invited to a public meeting on Thursday.

It takes place from 6.30pm at Treeton Community Centre on Pit Lane.

A spokesman for the parish council, which has objected, said: “Over the last 20 years the village has virtually doubled in size.

“The infrastructure in this time has not been improved to cater for such developments.”
