The 49-year-old mum of two, who has been dressing up for years, said: “I love all the kids and I do it for them.

“The mums and dads love it too—they think I’m crazy and they’re probably right.”

Linda, who lives in Thorpe Hesley and has been the school’s lollipop lady for 13 years, wears an Easter bonnet in the spring and a gold wig during the summer term but pulls out all the stops for Christmas.

People in the village even ask me when I'm going to start dressing up these days,” she said.

“It's all about getting in the Christmas spirit. After all, Christmas is all about the children and this is all part of the fun.”

Janice Uttley, whose seven-year-old granddaughter Jessika attends the school, said: “She looks quite comical but she dresses up for all occasions, including Easter.

“She’s been dressing up all week for the kids. She gets loaded down with presents as they all love her.”
