Masbrough muggers target elderly woman

AN elderly woman had her bag snatched in a street robbery as she walked home from a community centre in Masbrough.

The 66-year-old was making her way down Albert Street when a man grabbed her shopping bag containing cash and personal belongings before making his escape.

She was left with a sore wrist from when the offender pulled the bag away from her.

Police are appealing for information about the robbery which happened on Thursday February 25 at about 8pm.

Minutes before the incident witnesses reported seeing two young men hanging around on nearby College Road.

Police believe that one of these men may have been the bag snatcher.

The pair are described as white men in their early 20s, both about 5ft 10in tall.

One was “really skinny,” wearing a dark clothes and a dark baseball cap. The second man was wearing a dark jacket with a cream coloured patch under the arms and a woolly hat.
