Masbrough man appears in court over child sex offences

A MASBROUGH man accused of trying to incite a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity has appeared in court.

Paul Leighton (47), of Station Road, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with eight offences.

He is accused of attempting to incite the 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity by sending intimate photographs of herself to him, and of sending a sexual communication to a girl.

Leighton is also charged with six breaches of a sexual harm prevention order put in place by Sheffield Crown Court in 2015. Five of the breaches relate to him allegedly attempting to contact a child and one breach relates to him reportedly failing to notify his offender manager that he was in possession of a laptop.

He alleged to have committed the latest offences in February and March last year.

Leighton did not enter any pleas and he was released on bail to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on August 27.
