Manure set alight near village farm

A LARGE pile of manure was deliberately set alight at Edlington yesterday evening (Monday).

Firefighters were called to land behind a farm on Grange Lane shortly after 7pm and spent nearly two hours at the scene.

Colleagues also dealt with two garden fires which had got out of control overnight.

A crew from Adwick station was called to Beever Street in Goldthorpe at 12.45am, where a blaze near a property had been left unattended.

And firefighters from Rotherham station attended West Avenue at Rawmarsh shortly before 1.15am. A garden fire had spread to a fence and trees, the fire service said.
