Man slashed in Rotherham town centre

POLICE have launched an appeal for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Rotherham town centre following a row with three people.

The man suffered suspected slash injuries to his face and required hospital treatment following the attack on Corporation Street at around 11.30pm on Friday, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said.

The 49-year-old victim was assaulted following an altercation with two men and a woman, she added.

The suspects are believed to have walked away towards Westgate, said the spokeswoman, and it is not yet known what type of weapon was used.
