Man 'seriously hurt' in late-night Canklow park attack

A MAN suffered serious injuries in a late-night attack on playing fields in Canklow.

Police said the 48-year-old man had been approached by people who he did not know at around 12.20am on Saturday while on a playing field on Canklow Road.

A spokeswoman said: “The man is believed to have been knocked to the ground and assaulted.

“He sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“An investigation is currently ongoing and anyone with information is asked to report it to police.”

Earlier, it was stated on social media that police had described the man as being in "critical" condition.
