Man killed in Mexborough collision is named

A PEDESTRIAN who died in a collision in Mexborough on Saturday has been named.

Michael Boland (68), of Mexborough, died after colliding with a black BMW on Greens Way at 5.25pm, a police spokeswoman said.

The BMW had been travelling along Greens Way, from Swinton, when it collided with Mr Boland, who is said to have been crossing the road from the railway station towards the town centre, she added.

Mr Boland was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Mexborough man (22), arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, remains released under investigation.

Anyone who saw what happened, or who saw the black BMW in the area prior to the collision, is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 617 of January 4.
