A 44-year-old man died and two people were left injured after a road accident near Edlington on Tuesday.

The man's blue Vauxhall Astra was reported to be travelling on the wrong side of the road away from Doncaster along Broomhouse Lane, police said.

It was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Fiesta going the other way at the junction with Grange Lane, at about 11.20am on Tuesday, December 29.

The Astra driver suffered fatal injuries. He was later named as Stephen Rockman, of Arden Gate, Balby.

The 40-year-old Edlington man driving the Fiesta was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with serious back injuries.

His passenger, an 18-year-old woman also from Edlington, suffered a fractured arm and serious abdominal injuries. She was also detained at hospital.

Both were said to be in stable and comfortable condition today.
