Man dies after jumping in river at Conisbrough

POLICE recovered the body of a man who jumped into the River Don at Conisbrough at the weekend.

The 29-year-old leapt into the water on Saturday afternoon as temperatures in the area peaked at around 30 degrees C.

A police spokeswoman said officers had been called to the River Don following reports that a man had jumped in the river and hadn’t resurfaced.

“The following morning, at around 10am, underwater search teams found the body of the 29-year-old man close to where he’d gone missing,” said the spokeswoman.
