Man critical after collision with his own vehicle

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an unusual incident left a 44 year-old man fighting for his life.

The Mexborough man was at Barbers Path near to the junction with Maple Road, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday (29).

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said his car, a blue Subaru, was parked up and he had got out of the vehicle.

Then something happened which caused the man to be in collision with his own car, she added.

He was taken to hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition.

Police said no other vehicle was believed to have been involved in the incident or any criminal activity, but they need to establish how the man came to be injured.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 756 of 29 January 2014.
