Man charged with knife and assault offences over Dalton McDonald’s incident

A MAN has been charged with carrying a bladed weapon and assault after an incident at McDonald’s restaurant in Dalton yesterday (Thursday).

Police were called to McDonald’s on Doncaster Road at 12.40pm after reports that a man was acting aggressively and verbally threatening staff and customers. 

“The man was escorted from the premises and was seen to have been carrying a weapon,” said a South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman.

Anthony Binney (36), of Elliott Court, Rotherham, has been charged with possession of a bladed weapon and common assault. 

He remained in police custody today.

Nobody was injured during the incident, added the spokeswoman.
