Man charged after crash OAP dies

AN 82-year-old man has died following a collision with a suspected drink-driver, nearly two weeks after the crash occurred.

Reginald Ensor, of Swinton, was driving along Kingsforth Lane in Hellaby at around 10.50pm on Wednesday, September 11.

He was near the junction with Sandy Lane when his blue Citroen Picasso collided with a green Toyota Avensis, driven by a 41-year-old Dinnington man.

Mr Ensor was taken to hospital for treatment,

He was readmitted to hospital on Thursday, September 19 and died on Tuesday, September 24.

The Toyota driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and driving without insurance.

He was charged and bailed to appear at Rotherham Magistrates Court today.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident — or the manner of driving prior to it — to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 1213.
